Toni May Care Guide

Jewellery Care

ToniMay

Your ToniMay jewellery has been lovingly handmade and, with the right care, can be enjoyed for years to come. Some materials and finishes require more care than others, so please follow the guidance below.

Storage

Store your jewellery in a clean, dry and secure place, away from direct light, moisture and dust. Avoid keeping jewellery loose in your handbag or wallet, where it may become scratched or damaged.

After wearing your jewellery, gently wipe each piece with a soft, dry cloth before storing it. This helps remove body oils, cosmetics and other residue that may contribute to tarnishing or plating wear.

Cleaning

Use a good-quality jewellery polishing cloth to keep sterling silver and brass pieces clean and bright. These metals naturally tarnish as they react to heat, body oils, moisture and chemicals, but gentle, regular polishing can help restore their shine.

Do not use a polishing cloth on gold-plated jewellery. Polishing may damage or gradually lighten the gold plating.

Always handle chains carefully when cleaning. Avoid pulling, stretching or tugging them, as this may weaken or damage the links.

Wearing Your Jewellery

Remove your ToniMay jewellery before:

  • Showering, bathing or swimming
  • Washing your hands
  • Exercising or sleeping
  • Doing household chores
  • Carrying heavy items

Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, sunscreen, moisturiser, soap, cleaning products, salt water and chlorinated water. These can damage or discolour metals, plating and stones.

For best results, make your jewellery the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off each day.
